A side/ Tola
Tola is the tale of a girl who discovers freedom through the frequencies of a radio. It is a desperate attempt to connect with a world that Enver Hoxha’s totalitarian system in Albania had shamelessly canceled, as if there wouldn’t be anything but Albania. Listening to the radio was forbidden (accessible only to a chosen few, namely those who supported the regime). This is a personal experience that recalls when I secretly turned on a radio and found some “foreign” frequencies. I couldn’t understand a word, but I heard life beyond Albania. I felt sucked in by the radio waves until I disappeared into the frequencies. A kind of metamorphosis from human being to a free pure wave without boundaries.

B side/ Nastro vuoto per le onde tue ai ricordi
This B side is about my story before the definitive degradation of rural Italy towards early 80s consumerism. The track concept is to bring the listener to push the rec button, to fix the moment, to record themselves, to capture the radio frequencies as we did as kids during the tedious afternoons after the Sunday lunch, fiddling with our relatives’ stereo while they were sleeping. The listener is completely free to be part of the tape, to end up again in an era where freedom seemed something to be conquered on the field rather than granted from above. Luckily the doorway to freedom is still just a rec away…

Acchiappashpirt is a collaboration between the Albanian poet Jonida Prifti and sound artist SDT – a sound and video poetry/poetronic project formed in 2008. Insipred by the ouija board concept “Poetry pilots the electronic sound through wirings and feedbacks and so turns it into poetry itself. Their concept is inspired by the ouija board, which is oral communication as a path to paranormal activities that passes through the linguistic Babel, used to free the sense”.(Mapo magazine/Albania).They played at several experimental and poetry festivals as "Romapoesia” (Rome), “Poesiatotale” ( Rome), the “Anzio Art Biennale” (Anzio), “ Luci Sulla Città” (Caserta),”Romaeuropa Festival”(Roma) “Generazione y” (Roma, Maxxi museum of contemporary art)“Keen fest”(Antwerp) ,”Secret Anarchy Garden” (London), “Colour out of Space” (Brighton). “Thalassa festival”(Rome), “Rave letterario” (Rome), “Scrittura degli echi” (Rome, Maxxi ), Andata e ritorno festival ( Venezia). They manage the international annual sound poetry minfestival "Poesia Carnosa" in Rome.

Amazing from start to finish. Sort of like encountering Harry Smith's Anthology of American Folk Music for the first time, it's like stepping off a spiral staircase into the deep end of a whole 'nother universe of mysteries. "Triptik 2", the closer, is one of the most jaw-droppingly strange/hypnotic collisions of jazz, electronica, psychedelia and WTF I've ever heard - and yet it somehow works. Bought both volumes just on the strength of the first one & hoping there are many more to be issued. rocketmorton
